In 2005, NBK, Ltd. expanded to create The Literate Bear, a division of NBK, Ltd., with an emphasis on encouraging Children's Reading Literacy. R.B. The Reading Bear, and Tanya The Reading Dog, 2 very happy, warm, and friendly kid-safe animated characters, were designed exclusively for The Literate Bear to help encourage children to practice their reading skills and to help them feel comfortable about reading. Our Tanya character was inspired by a beautiful, happy and friendly Golden Retriever named Dichi Serious Frivolity (CGC, TDI), a certified therapy dog that absolutely adores children and thinks that reading is serious fun! The Literate Dog Gourmet Dog Bakery uses only the finest vegetarian certified Organic and Natural ingredients and all Gourmet Dog Treats are hand rolled, hand cut and baked fresh for each individual order. The Literate Dog is licensed with the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a Feed Distribution and Manufacturing Facility (Reg. # 7406-0). All of our Gourmet Dog Treats are registered with the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
Strict regulations set forth by most states regarding the sale and distribution of pet food products requires that pet food manufacturers and distributors be licensed within any states they are shipping their products into and in most cases their products must be registered in those states. We are fully licensed and registered within the State of Illinois and can process orders to ship our Gourmet Dog treats to any Illinois address. As our business expands The Literate Dog intends to register and license in additional states, however we currently cannot process orders to ship Gourmet Dog Treats to addresses outside of Illinois. Items other than our fresh baked Gourmet Dog Treats can be shipped to any state.
