Literacy Facts
- Children that have a positive, happy, and fun attitude about reading, generally become fluent, eager readers.
- Reading aloud to a child helps children to understand that printed words on a page have meaning. Reading aloud together can also help stimulate a child's imagination and help to develop critical language and listening skills.
- Strong reading skills developed early in life enable children to become stronger learners in school and can help them develop a higher sense of self-esteem.
- Reading with a child every day, at the same special time and place, will help encourage the child to enjoy and look forward to reading. Many children enjoy a bedtime story.
